New old project-1946 Austin gasser
You and me both Bill!
I'm really happy I went with a more stock type head, rocker, etc. If it worked for Chevy it will hopefully work and be reliable for me too!

Clamped off my line from the fuel cell today and intalled my 10 micron canister filter. Had to relocate the fuel pump to do it, so I built a mounting rail from 2"x2" aluminum angle and mounted them both on it. Then just drilled holes that lined up with the old mounting holes for the fuel pump and bolted it all in place.
Haven't had any fuel problems with a new fuel cell and lines, but never know when you might get some ugly gas these days!

nice! im gonna have to replace the tank in the 68 now. the jets in te carb keep getting pluged with rust. going to maybe get out 55 chevy fired up this week need to get it outside for some pictures
If you can find a place to hide one of these 10 micron filters it will stop all the crud from plugging your carb. They're not too spendy either. I got mine at Summit for $25.
It finally happened, and with my wife in the passenger seat. we were at a friend's birthday party and took the Austin for fun. Most of our friends had not seen it done and when we left they all came out to watch us drive off.
I figured it might be a good or bad time to get into it a little, depending on how things worked out. with the wife and I both strapped into the harnesses (and no warning to her!) I hit the throttle as we were headed down the street and did a quick run through first. It felt really good and went fairly straight. My wife wasn't extremely pleased when I told her I thought it picked the front wheels up.
When we got home there was a message from my buddy to confirm that indeed he did see a little air under the front tires as we took off from his house!
