New old project-1946 Austin gasser
Thanks! I'm very pleased with the work he did!
I just read through the whole build thread. Awesome fun car you've put together. I grew up in England and that's not like any Austin I saw back then.....lol. My dad had a couple of Austins but different models, an A-30 and an A-35. Yours looks like a whole lot more fun! Can't wait to see the finished product. Nice job!

Started the cleanup, and painting on the undercarriage. I should have been more careful to mask off the chassis after all the work I did to clean and paint it once I finished it. Had primer all over the ladder bars, front suspension, inside the tilt frontend.
Got it washed Sunday, and cleaned, sanded and painted most of it today. Dropped my tires and wheels at the local tire shop and had them mounted and balanced, then got them on the car this afternoon.

I also got my rub plates built this morning to keep the hood pins from scratching up the inside plates on my latch system for the frontend. Removed the latches and traced the shape, and mounting holes on thin aluminum, then cut it out and cleaned it up on the belt sander. Made them about 1/2" smaller than the fender so they will protect, but leave a painted border.

Lots of polishing to do on the chrome tomorrow, and maybe get some wiring started.

I like the plates there for the hood pins. I can't wait for the sun to come out and get the sunny pics. I think silver leaf would look good. If you can find a guy to air brush a mouse trap with a guy caught by his leg, that would be funny. I had a small pic on my 85 short box of the truck with a donkey in the bed. I had a buddy with a GTO that a had a small goat pulling the car airbrushed on it.
I've got this picture in my computer I saved long ago, and hoped I could get someone to digitize a SBC engine in place of the cheese in the mouse's hand:
Another productive day! Sign shop sent me a layout to approve for decals, and they looked great! Also got almost everything done on the frontend of the car! Got my lights and fan all wired, then cleaned up the chrome and got it all on also.

Since I had some time left, I also got the edge rubber installed on the cowl. I use these little paper clips for a lot of things around my garage, and they worked great for holding the rubber while the glue set up.

Moving to the back tomorrow, and then underneath again to attach the wheelie bars.
