Yippeee! Early Christmas present today! Ever since I changed cams I've been low on vacuum and pondering my options as to whether to change to manual brakes, or what? I looked at aux. vacuum canisters with backcheck valves also, but didn't want to spend the money and maybe not work.
Well a friend is leasing his home out and was tossing some items he had stored, and one of them was a nice polished aluminum aux. vacuum can! He told me to take it for free, and not worry about paying him regardless of whether or not it worked!
It's a very spendy unit complete with vacuum gauge on it, and mounting hardware, so I'm pretty excited! Hope it works and lets my power master work, without any other changes!

thats awesome what a nice gift, yeah i heard them work pretty good,i might have to use one of them to,not sure yet.let me know how it works,i have a huge cam but the solid roller and cubic inches might save me,it idles nicely at 800 rpms.at least it did with my fuel injection.

Not sure a roller cam will change the amount of vacuum made. I know rollers allow a much higher lift without the limits of a flat tappet cam.

im not sure either if it helps the vacum thats what my engine builder said, but in my irocz my brakes seemed to be fine but never really got to drive it too much, the car couldnt handle it.

The thing that seems to affect vacuum the most in cams is lobe separation. Big cams with LSA of around 108-110 degrees will have less vacuum than the same lift and duration with LSA of around 112-114 degrees.

yeah i agree with that too,my cam is 112,im not sure if the small base circle cam i have hurts it or not, hope i have enough vacum to run the brakes in my 80 camaro my 87 irocz had smaller brakes and booster in it.

Seems I'm going to have to find another painter to shoot the car. After numerous attempts and promises, I can't seem to get the guy who painted my Camaro to even drive 4 blocks to look at it. Even offered to drive him down, but he always has some reason he can't leave.
I'm meeting with another local guy tomorrow to look at it, but I'll have to trailer it 20 miles to his shop, if we come to an agreement. Last resort is I'll wait until the weather warms up in the spring and see if I can shoot paint myself.

Well I doubt I can do as nice a paint job as he did on my Camaro, but the Austin would look weird with paint that nice anyway! I really just want it to look like a shiny old hotrod, so it can be a 10 ft. paint job and I'll be satisfied.
