New old project-1946 Austin gasser
I guess I should have clarified. I have Crane roller rockers. There is a fulcrum in the center than has bearings on the sides. The top has a flat cut for the lock to seat on. The bottom is round. I beleive the fulcrum starts out as a peice of round stock with a flat. I've never even heard of a pivot ball in upside down. If I did it would never mention it to you guys. LOL
I will never again ***** about dragging 180lb deer out of the woods. Do you guys hunt them to eat or for trophies?

My deer hunt this year was unusual because I came across a herd of mule deer that was 8 bucks. I often take a forked horn, just because it's the first I see, but the herd had a lead buck that was 5x5 around 200 lbs., so got a good one this year.
Our whitetail bucks are around 150-200lbs. Six points are average so are ten points really. Lots of buttons and spike horns. Last year they banned us from baiting because of some weird lung disease they were transmitting to each other. Sucked bad.
We've never been able to bait for deer, it's illegal here and always has been.
More boxes from Summit today! Got my Accel shorty spark plugs, so the two that had interference issues with the frame can fit now! Also got my oil primer tool that works like a distributor so you oil bottom and top end at the same time. It will also come in handy for setting the distributor in and getting the oil pump shaft to line up!
Looks like I'll get back started on the engine Sat. and maybe fire it early next week!

Got more assembly done today! Late start, but got the pulleys on and water pump, plus headers. Got the valves adjusted and the engine primed with oil. Just need the intake and radiator hooked up tomorrow, and then wiring.
I'll need to dismount the electric fan from the tilt frontend and attach it temp to the radiator so I can run the engine with the frontend open. Should be firing it this weekend barring any interruptions!

It's alive!
Fired it today for just a few seconds since I didn't have coolant, but it did run! The doggone starter gave up during the engine work. I was bumping the engine to get valves set, and distributor dropped in, then hit it one more time and it just spun with no engagement. Luckily I had a couple freshly rebuilt spare starters, so grabbed one and put it in.
I wasn't planning on starting it yet, but she fired when I was testing the starter, so I let it run about 30 sec. and turned it off. I'll get coolant tomorrow and then maybe get the cam broke in. It sounded really good for the few seconds it ran!!

Well after the first failed attempt at breakin, (and cooling issues) I got it broke in today! The engine had an air pocket in the cooling system, and overheated quickly, so I shut her down. Once I let it sit overnight it took a couple gallons more coolant and all went well.
The cam sounds super, and the gear drive gives me goose bumps every time I rev the engine! When the wife gets home I'll get her to assist in getting some video downloaded and post it later!
