New old project-1946 Austin gasser
Did a little reworking of the fuel lines today, so had to run to the local hardware store to get some fittings. While I was there I came across some 1" aluminum tubing that was pretty cheap, and looked like it would work for another idea I had been considering.
Been wanting to possibly change out my tie rod and drag link for chrome pieces, but they don't make the sizes I need. I purchased the aluminum tubing and cut it to length of my tie rod and drag link. Took one heim off and slid them over the rod for a perfect fit!
Afterwards I got the Never Dull out and polished them up a bit, and they came out great I think!

Thanks Bill!
Figured it might mess with people's minds when they see tie rods that look like they're polished aluminum!

After answering the question many times I decided to have the sign guy make me some new signage for the rear of the Austin.

Did a little upgrade to my spring perches today. The speedway axle used square U bolts to bolt the axle to the perch, but I wanted a setup like most rearends use where the U bolt encompasses the axle and spring with everything sandwiched in between.
I had Oregon Spring bend me up some 7/16x2" U bolts 6" long. Then I elongated the perch holes so the U bolt could pass through and ffit the plates I made. Took a couple hours to eleongate those holes because I don't have a 1/2" rotary file for my die grinder. Had to open them with a step bit.

Thanks Bill! I actually had a guy argue with me the other day about whether it is an Austin or an Anglia. I called it the Austin, and he corrected me saying, "It's an Anglia."
I asked him if he really thought I didn't know what kind of car I owned, and he replied he grew up in England and knew an Anglia when he saw one. I pointed out the grille emblem and he said it looked like someone had put an Austin emblem on an Anglia.
I finally gave up and walked away from my own car to get far from him. That was when I decided it would be fun to put the new lettering on the trunk. I also put a smaller one on the inlet to my scoop, so when they look into it they see the same phrase.

Yeah Bill, the grilles are quite different in a 2dr Anglia and either 2dr or 4dr Austin, but the 4dr Anglia Prefect is more like the Austin grille, but not exactly. The Anglias used a grille with 2-3 long vertical openings, depending on years. The Prefect (4dr Anglia) used a grille similar to mine, but with no body colored pan at the bottom, and longer.
