New old project-1946 Austin gasser
Made a pattern for my missing semiphor today, from the existing one on the driver's side. Took some old aluminum tubing I had and cut one side open, then worked it over the edge of a piece of 1/4" steel to make is ft the edge of the plastic I got.
After cutting the pattern out and dressing it on the belt sander, I epoxied the metal to the edge and drilled for the pivot screw. I need to figure a way to age the plastic now, as it's not yellowed enough. Wont really show when it's closed, but I'll see if I can get some stain or paint to distress it.

Going to try and get started pulling the seats and making the carpet for it this week. We'll see how that goes!

I remember those so well. I grew up in England and my dad's 50's vintage Morris Minor had them. That was the old version of the turn signals! Kudos for keeping them on the car Val. They look great! Nice job.
That was the automated version of sticking your arm out the window to signal a turn. Some semaphores had lights too.
Maybe there were, but I'm not aware of any American cars that had them.

Yes, these are small "flags" that sit between the front and rear doors. They were illuminated, and had a solenoid that operated them when the signal switch was turned left or right. The older Austins were 6v., and my solenoids are no good, so they're simply there to fill the slot on my car.
The old VW's also used them, and repros are still made in 12v., so I could get later A40 semiphors, but they would need to be adapted to mount in my A10. I just want the car to look complete, so I'll use my lights, and not worry about them being operational.

Quick little swap yesterday. Took the chrome toggle switches out and replaced them with some cool old black steel handle toggles. Found them at the swap meet in a box cheap.

Headed out for fall elk camp, so put the Austin to bed for awhile!

Thanks Pacer! Just got back from fall hunting trip, and sent you a PM.
Just ordered up red window tint film to put on the Austin side windows. I want to give it more of the 60's plexiglass look that many racers used back in the day. Hope to pull out the seaats this week and do carpet and window tint at the same time.
