Thanks! Yeah, it's a smile a mile to drive! Can't remember when I've had as much fun driving a car! Not even close to paint though. Thought I'd be ready by now, but had some reaction on the primer on both rear doors and fenders in spots. I'm trying to strip the bad spots and reprime to make sure whatever caused it is gone. Plus still spraying 2k primer and long boarding to get things closer to perfect.
Might be a couple weeks before I'll be ready to send it to paint.

Yeah, I can't wait too, but I guess until I can figure a way to speed up the work force I'll just have to be patient.

Found some new tripper discs for removing paint, and they beat anything I've ever used! Last 4-5 times as long, plus take the paint off faster and without the gouges and marks the flapper discs make in the surface of the metal. They're about 3 times the price of flappers, but I'll never use flapper discs again for paint removal!
These are sort of like a Scotchbrite pad, but much heavier duty, with larger pores. Got them at the local Ace Hardware, and just bought one. I'll go back for more now that I know how they work.
Had to strip both rear doors and it took all of about 5 min. for each door. Very cool item for paint removal! I'll reshoot them now and see if the finish is more acceptable.
Did a little more tuning, just because it was a bit advanced and cranking a little slow. Had to take it back about 5 degrees, but starts well hot or cold now. Still seems to grab rpm's fine too, so I think it's close. I'll toss a light on it later, just to see where I'm at now.

Hope this works. This is the disc that Eastwood sells, and it looks just like what I bought:

After a couple days of stripping and sanding, I shot the high build primer today. Bought some locally that is designed to be shot directly over bare metal or primer, so I wouldn't have to seal it again. Spendy stuff by the time you get primer, actuator, and reducer!
I've got the little heater running for a 90 min. cure, but I also used fast reducer to elimnate difficulties with cooler temps. Seemed to work, as it dried quickly and had no wrinkle issues this time.

My little 35,000 btu heater at work. Kept things in the high 70's inside the canopy on a high 30's day!

Tomorrow I'll start blocking out the primer and maybe be ready for a pro to finish it for me in a week or so!

Thanks Val, I have some small 2' discs that look like that. I'll check out the Ace in Madras for them. Car is looking good!

You're welcome! I'm sure you'll really be glad you got them. Wish I'd found them sooner, as I wouldn't have some grinder marks to deal with from those flapper discs.
Can't wait to get paint on the Austin! I'm headed to the paint shop tomorrow to talk to the owner, and see if I can get him to drop by and give me an estimate to shoot it!
