I have some pictures, before when everything was so dirty and I seem to have dried on oil and other grime around the area(s). Then as I've gotten things off, been cleaning and removing dried on gasket material.

Before - Oil pump drive

After - Oil pump drive

Issue I'm having with this: Lower intake goes on over 3 studs, the rest of the holes are bolts. I put the three studs back on and I can't get the lower intake to slide back on over them. It's close, but it doesn't quite want to fit. I'm not sure why this is.

I seem to have found the undocumented trick to this...you want to have the studs threaded but loose. I originally already had them tightened/torqued. If they are loose you can slip the lower intake on, then tighten the studs before installing the nuts/bolts.

Another little issue I'm wondering about. I've contacted Felpro about this but I'll post it on here. I bought one of the 5x more expensive Permadry molded gaskets for the valve covers, but they have these 4 little inner tabs vs. the original cork and therefore don't fit down the same. I'm not sure if that's ok and it'll work alright, but it doesn't seem right to me. These gaskets are supposed to work for the older 2.8L, 3.1L and my 3.4L. All those valve covers are basically the same, so I don't know what the tabs are even there for.

Yeah...it's just they are $40 gaskets and I shouldn't really have to modify them. I don't get why there are tabs to begin with, and why are they in that orientation? There's nothing for them to slot into to begin with.

Almost. Wasn't intending it to take this long, but between the job, waiting for parts, getting into it and finding other stuff I want to fix up...it's taken time. I've had some expected and unexpected downtime in there as well preventing me from working on it.
I just need to triple check everything, get the air duct on and coolant filled back up.
