Dont forget movies. I saw the new Red Dawn a couple weeks ago. Not a bad flick but the first one wasnt old enough. I just knew someone would make it in the new one from the old. I was right. The fighter pilot in the first one is the same guy just older in the remake. Then there are Batman, True Grit, and even Total Recall was a 90's flick already being redone. No new thought anymore really.

You know what would impress me? A new fastener. I have seen just about every way on earth to fasten one thing to another. I want to see a original idea there. Something that has been floating my head I guess.

 

I just noticed that I posted on Tim's thread instead of this one about the Trans Am conversions. I've seen the first 2 and I definitely like the Lingenfeter version by far. I've always been a fan of the late 70 to 73 Firefbird TA. The Lingenfelter conversion of the 5th gen Camaro to the TA is just perfect. Had GM kept the Pontiac brand, that would be the car to save the brand. It keeps the original features in a modern package. I do agree that most remakes far short but that one is very well done.

I saw the remake of Red Dawn recently too. While it was well done, I was still disappointed. I do think you need to have a little more time pass before remakes come out. Total recall wasn't even that close to the original. It should have been released as a different movie. The same with the cars, the Charger has the name but the car just falls short. Just my opinion!

That said, I do like that 2nd Gen concept drawing.

 

Well not much happened this weekend on the car. It sat while i constantly pumped water from the basement. Then I totaled my DD the same day the flood started. My hot water heater is too wet to fire. So I had to boil water today, first bath I've had it 15 or so years.

Last night I did manage to sit down and play with some parts. I fit my speakers into my kick panels. Still need to find a vinyl with the right grain so I can dye it to match the interior. No other progress to report. I did set it in the car and mocked it up. Cant wait to ride in this thing.

Did you make those panels? Look great if you did. Will you be rolling this summer ya think? I don't know if I should even be entertaining the thought of being able to drive the Camaro this summer or not. Truly don't think I could survive another winter without at least driving down the street! So is the basement all set now?

 

Nope! Water sucks! I have pumped it everyday since Friday. Every night when I get home from work there is four inches on the floor. My hot water heater died because it drown. I had it going once but lost it again. Can't keep the pilot lit. My Pontiac is officially toast. Got a turbo 350 I can buy cheap?long shaft.

I was optimistic I could drive this summer but with the weather suck on crappy and all my vehicles in disrepair. I doubt it. I think I'm gonna dig the swb 2 WD out of moth ***** and slap my stroker in it for some good summer fun. I built it for that truck anyhow. Need a tranny. I may try and rebuild one I have though. Not sure. If I get my bonus here at work soon I will just drop a 5.3/4l60e in. Takes outs are fairly cheap. Like I said. Not sure which way I'm headed anymore.

 

Well in light of the recent flood and smashing my DD I am putting my entire effort into getting my 86 SWB back in shape. It needs an engine and tranny. I spent all my dollars on getting the basement back in shape and a new hot water heater so I really am on a budget. So I have to use the motor for the camaro and I am considering the tranny but am have a hell of a time finding a pedal assembly and z bar for the truck. Apparently they are rare but I never knew it.

I tore the motor down to go through it before installing it. I was worried because water indeed froze in it and pushed out a freeze plug. The rest of the motor was only ran for minutes after the build. It had a leaky rear main and I found a ton of shavings in the water jackets so I wanted to tear it all down and go at it will the washer. So its now in pieces.

See the crap in the water pump? It was 3/4" thick in the water jacket. I understand the fact I have aluminum and iron meeting but damn! So its distilled water from hear out!

All that crap is going in this. It go sucker punched by a telephone pole when I drove it one winter. Some guy in a 19FT Caddy stopped in front of me. I locked up the fronts and slide into him. Pushed him into the pole and he got out going "man look at my bumpa!" I said yeah look at your hood! He was looking at the back where I hit him. The front was pushed up pretty high. and smoking. LOL I needed to bend the fender back off the tire. Then on a trip down the street after installing a new motor the hood flew OFF and over the top skidding to a stop on the paint side. I do love those SWB Chevy's! A lot of potential right there for sure. I'm sure parts are readily available over where you're at but keep in mind, the Northern Michigan CL has an overabundance of truck parts that I can snag for you if needed! Good progress man!

 

That'll be a real sleeper! Hope you can afford the gas as a DD!
