I did all this stuff once, I just wasn't happy with it after doing my mock up. Plus it was all dirty from blasting the body. Everything got a good cleaning this time. The tie rods and center link turned out so good its scary. They look powder coated. Absolutely no orange peel and looks a mile deep. Topped those off with red grease covers from Energy Suspension. They aren't rubber like stock and shouldn't break down. Some of the rubber has begun to break down all ready, its never be down the road! The boot for my clutch rod disintegrated and it was new. Bummer.

 

Oh yeah I'm trying to get it back together and running in black primer. Going for the Darth Vader look for now.

 

Amazing that rubber parts went bad that fast! Some of the rubber pieces I pulled off my Camaro were original when I did the suspension and still looked soft and pliable after 40 years.

 

Kind of P-Oed about the clutch boot. I want to call Tamaraz and complain. But its been over a year since I bought it and it was installed. Damn thing is split in about five places.

The frame is assembled. I need to finish the firewall before putting back together. I didn't have time to work on it this weekend. I did a wheel bearing on the womans car. It turns out that buying the cheapest part on Rockauro wasn't the best idea. The new bearing makes noise.
I did fill the spots in the firewall that I needed to fix, I also did the spot welds and will have all the contours smoothed. Its been too cold to spray anyhow. I might have a window this weekend but then its probably over for this year. I also have my dads jeep coming over for outer U joints. That could be real fun.

Get a portable space heater in the garage so you can warm it up and keep going!

 

I have a 30,000 BTU propain fired wall heater AND a 30,000 BTU kerosene heater. I got it up to 70* on a 0* day but I wouldn't bet the sheetmetal was near that warm. Oh yeah and the cost to keep it that warm is ridiculous. 100# propane tank lasts about two weeks. The kerosene is about 5 gallons a week. I have thought of plumbing the propane heater to the natural gas. I need a ceiling in the garage first. Thats where my heat goes.

 

Try heating a canopy with propane! I haven't kept track of the cost, I just know it's worth it to be out there turning wrenches when it's cold.
