Yeah I bet the tent doesn't hold the heat so well. I am thinking this weekend I'll be able to marry the frame to the car again. I have to do some work on my dads Jeep but after that I might as well. What sucks is when I was doing this during the summer it was light out until 10pm but now the sun is setting a little after 7. I can't have the kids out there playing in the dark.

 

Well they could play in the dark. Hide and seek is much easier when it's dark out!

 

LOL until one hides so well I can't find them. I don't think I'm going to get anything done this weekend.

I started on my dads Jeep today (outer u-joints) and its going to be a nightmare. It started with two different size lug nuts. I didn't have an 11/32" impact socket and my 4-way lug wrench wouldn't fit the hole in the wheel. Had to grind the OD of the wrench to fit. Then they were ungodly tight. Then getting the cotter key out wasn't fun, the wheels are aftermarket and don't have center caps. I've told you about our rust problems here. It applies especially to nuts and bolts.The axle nut and cotter key had become a rusted, crusty and unidentifiable. Good thing I had a couple 3mm carbide drill bits in my arsenal. Drilled it out fairly easy. Then the rest was straight forward but never having done steering u-joints before I inadvertently pulled the whole spindle off. I just needed to pop the wheel bearing/ hub assembly out, then the shafts slid right out. That is as far as I got today, tomorrow should go smooth if the u-joint caps come out easily. There soaking in the PB Blaster for the night.

Its fun working on something different for a change. Jeeps are a real change of pace compared to the same old GM stuff. Most everyone I know dives a Chevy so I don't get to work on much else. Never get to work on a Ford.

 

I know i will be patiently waiting on more Camaro progress. Yours is one of the few threads i follow.

 

I was right the Jeep took me until today to finish. Would have been done last night but the woman came out to tell me I had 20 min before I was late for bowling. Covered in grease, I dashed for the shower.

Feeling better after a long night at work. Sweat it out I guess. Dad now has a list of things for me to fix now. I' going to make time for the Camaro before the weather goes completely to hell. It's been in the 70's for almost two weeks and I haven't had much to show for it. The weather liars say were in for a nasty winter because of La Nina. I need to get with the program. I do have a set of fender extensions coming in the next day or two. I need a set for the front spoiler that didn't come on my 78' Z.

At least my parts pile is getting bigger.

Like a house project, more money and more time than you expect.
