Default Scan tool

I'm starting to realize I probably need to invest in a scan tool. I have a 1994 so I know it needs a special connector. I found one online, is this what I need to scan and view computer functions and does it come with everything I need? Also what do you guys use? Thanks

Yes , the AutoXray will do fine. I bought a 5000 model new on Ebay for 150.00. But i just checked and the 6000 model for 270.00 at Tool Direct may be a good price right now. Ebay has some for a little more but a few wks ago they were cheaper ?

Oh ! mine works very well and you can scann most vehicles from 1984 and up as well. Also ! If you get a used one, make sure it has all the cables ! AND it is in ENGLISH too, some are in Spanish only and you cannot switch to english !!

CNCman,

Do you know if that Autoxray will work on the 95 Z28 that has an OBDII plug, but runs a OBDI protocol?

I think so, but not sure, so I emailed AutoXray and am waiting for a reply from them to be certian, sorry for the wait, it may be tomorrow before they reply like last time. My 94Z has OBDI connector which works good. There is probably someone here who knows for sure, like " Libertyforall1776 " in this post https://camaroforums.com/forum/showt...light=Autoxray

Here is a discussion simular to your question
https://camaroforums.com/forum/showt...light=Autoxray

I will post AutoXray's reply when I get it.

Also the next thing I want to get is the cable and software that " rwing7486 " mentioned above LOOKS NICE !!

Default AutoXray will scan OBDI PCM with OBDII connector

AutoXray replied and said it will scan your 95Z with the OBDI PCM that has an OBDII connector. Here is the proof ...

http://www.tradervar.com/GM-OBD-II-M...ray-P35301.htm

When you buy the AutoXray, it will have several different cables for different pre-1996 OBDI systems and 2 OBDII cables for 1996 to present year vehicles. The cable above comes with the kit, so you do not need to buy it seperatly. I like it because I can scan just about everything from 1984 and newer cars and trucks.

Here is another link about FreeScan and TunerCat you might want to check out too !!
http://www.f-body.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16384

If you buy an AutoXray used, make sure it comes with all the cables and is an English version. Hope this helps.
