Default What brand is best for Scan Tool?

I am looking to buy a scan tool. One that can read sensors, freeze fram data and other information that cannot be pulled with a "code reader". What are some good, lesser expensive tools out there and where can I get one?

How much are you willing to spend?

If you want something for 2008 your spending big bucks, if your looking to take care of what you have listed below go with the Red Brick which is the Snap on MT2500 or the graphing version, these will be cheap to buy now that Snap on listed they will no longer be updating them in the future. I've seen used ones with software up to 2002 or so go for less then 750.

OTC Genysis is also a good scan tool.

I still use my Red brick on the cars it is software ready for, rock solid and easy to use.

They list just the scanner as "Coming soon". If you buy the whole tuning kit, it comes with it. It looks like it will be extremely handy, though I haven't messed with it yet.

You have a lap top? This falls under the "lesser expensive tools". I was able to find an older IBM think pad with a bad battery and a car adater for $50. I will be getting one of these two. There are tons of shareware for viewing data and clearing codes. Once you decide you want to modify the program then go to the HP tune.

Hi,

I have this one :

http://www.carplugs.com/obd2usb.html

It works very good but you need a computer or a palm. I know that they will the same version but high end software for measuring horsepower and it is freezes the sensor data.

bye,

intravino
