Default Which engine????

hey everyone. ive got a 79 camaro with a 305 in it rite now. i wanna take it out and either put a 327 or a 350 in it. the problem is is that the 350 is just a bare block so i have to get everything to get it going. the 327 is complete but its been sitting under a cover behind a barn for along time so it probably needs to be rebuilt also. Which one should i put my money into?

In my opinion the 350 is a better engine unless it's going into a "numbers matching" car/truck. They both have 4.000 inch bores. The 327 has a 3.250 inch stroke crankshaft. The 350 has a 3.480 inch stroke crankshaft. The longer stroke generally makes more torque. It also usually makes both horsepower and torque at a lower RPM range.

Most of the SBC cam spec's you see are based on a 350. There are exceptions. I'm sure others will have different opinions.
