Almost there!

Here's what's left:

-Bleed brakes
-Cycle trans (to make sure the converter is full)
-Trans oil cooler
-Baseline tune
-Get exhaust welded
-Get proper street tune

I ran it for a little bit last night, and it threw a couple codes:

DTC P0100 MAF Sensor Ckt. Insufficient Activity
DTC P0300 Engine Misfire Detected

Would these (particularly the P0300) simply be due to the fact that I'm running it with different cam and heads and stock tune? i.e., are they problems a tune would take care of, or do I have some troubleshooting to do?

I just thought of something: the first time I started it up, I didn't have the MAF installed/plugged in. I didn't clear codes after I got everything else plugged in. I imagine that not having it plugged in would trip the P0100 code. I'll clear codes and see if it comes back before doing anything else.

What about the P0300? Is that something that is generally expected after doing a cam swap? Or does that require some troubleshooting as well?

if you had any backfires or such when starting or running first time then it would show. clear and see if anything come up.

I would think both your codes were caused by the MAF sensor. With it unplugged, the computer doesn't anything about the incoming air, so it can't adjust the A/F ratio properly.

I'll be working on it again Saturday. I'll clear the codes and see what happens.

So yesterday, the plan was to bleed the brakes, cycle the trans to fill the converter, and move the car under its own power for the first time since the end of last May. Well I got the brakes done, and I went to start it...battery dead. The last time I ran the car was probably 2.5 weeks ago, and it started with no issue...could it be possible I might have a drain on the battery somewhere? The battery and the alternator are both about 2.5 years old, and the starter is brand new. We couldn't even jump the thing (tried with two different cars).

have you made sure the battery is dead. no lights come on? no clicking? jump should have made it click at the least. did you try switching battery with another yet.

The dome lights would come on, but dim whenever I did anything (hit the brake pedal, for example). The first couple of times I tried, it clicked a few times, but no crank. Then after a while when we had the jumper cables on, it would click once, then nothing (no dash lights, no click, nothing). I did not try it with a different battery.

even a jump on a completely dead battery will probably not have the amps needed. charge or change battery and see what happens. must have left something on or got something wired wrong.
