while i will say that is true of most underpowered cars IE Civic, that doesn't quite apply to an LT1 Z. i shifted once at most on a given course with my Z28. get it into 2nd, and use the low end torque. with 3.23's, he's not going to have problems with speed as he will have to be hitting 75mph before it'll try shifting into 3rd. the more time you spend shifting, the more time you WASTE on the track. and an LT1 isn't gonna be in the low rpms for long.

spartan, be prepared for understeer with the Z28. on stock suspension it's gonna push and push BAD. the 4th gens were more setup for road racing than auto-x (where as the 3rd gens were a little more towards tighter courses).

all of this is coming from personal experience btw.

thanks. it won't be on the autocross course until next summer at the earliest, so thanks for the heads-up. what suspension mods do you suggest/recommend? Keep in mind this is still going to be my summer DD

biggest mod, driver mod. learn to drive, and then start worrying about upgrading the car. first mod i'd do personally though, tires. a good set of tires will make a world of difference.

yeah I know driver mod is the most important and tires are number 2. With all the money I've had to blow on the car that I originally wasn't planning on spending, I think I might wait on tires for now, since my all-seasons that were on the car when I bought it are almost brand new.

if you want to stay on the salad shooters, i'd go with some Nitto NT-01's in 245/50-16's at all four corners. it's still a street legal tire, but it is an R-Comp tire also. the grip it has is INSANE for a street tire.

I don't think I'm gonna end up sticking with the shooters. I'm thinking C6 Z06s, I can get a set of 17" from OE Wheels for just over $400

so I came across this polished strut tower brace for sale:

the guy wants $200 for it. I really want a polished strut tower brace, but this is an LS1 style (fits, but an LT1 wouldn't have that bulge), and with how much more I've spent on my cars than I planned, idk if I can justify getting this before I have a steady income again. Thoughts?
