Do I have to replace the oil pan gasket too?

No you don't aslong as you don't rip it. Its not holding any pressure so it can be reused.

Thank goodness, Last thing I want to do, is pull the engine just to change a gasket.

Whan I changed the oil filter, I found a plug wire that was completely burnt through, lying against the drivers side cat. Could that throw this particular code? I changed that wire, and Im going to check and change the others in the next few days. Figured I'd put new plugs in it too. The wires were new, only a few hundred miles, I guess I should have been more careful putting them in.

sure seems to me a bad plug wire could and would through a misfire code.

It would sure be nice if that's all it is, I really dont have the money for this $#!+ right now.

I should put the timing chain in it though, 165K, and I dont know if it was ever driven hard.

they have pretty good timing chains. i changed mine at 100k and it looked close to new. they are a bit lose new.

I was afraid of losing a motor because of not maintaining a 30$ part.

I sure wish I had you guys around when Im actually working around the car.

Bosch platinum 4 gave me a PO300 code, random misfire. Changed ONLY the plugs to AC Delco, and the code is gone. Car runs fine.
