There is a "torque arm" that's mounted to the rear axle. It comes forward and attaches to a bracket off the tail of the trans. That keeps the pinion end of the rearend from lifting under torque and wanting to spin like a pinwheel. That lifting motion on the arm puts upward force on the tail of the trans, and stresses the mount, until it ultimately rips apart. When that happens, the tail of the trans will lift hard when you hit the gas and smack the tunnel.

Finally got to replacing it, of course you were all right, the mount was ripped in half. Easy job, was done in 15 minutes. Felt so good to floor it and not hear any of that loud banging ****. Appreciate the help guys.
