Default Output shaft.

'Sup guys. Heres what i got for you. Every time I floor it in my car, theres a loud bang. Under the common issues section for my transmission, (a4), It says that a loud bang is associated with a snapped output shaft. My question is, what would i need to do in order to remove and replace it? (i.e. where is it located, what are you gonna have to take apart to reach the part, any useful hints, etc.) Appreciate any help given.

If your output shaft was snapped, the car wouldn't move. A more common cause of what you're experiencing is a torn transmission mount, which lets the tail of the trans lift under torque, and bang the tunnel.

You have the tear the trans apart to get to it. Best let a shop do it. Other causes though would be the trans mount being broken.

I was beat to it...

That's why it's not in the how-to section, it's too easy to have to explain!
And while someone's at it, might as well make a how-to on how to insert the ignition key and start the engine!

Cool thats a load off my shoulders. Would the mount be located on the tail of the tranny or the head?
