Default Factory Installed Security

Hi guys, I realize this subject has been beat to death and there are several issues with the GM security systems but I can't find anything on my particular issue.

My daughter just inherited a pristine 2000 Camaro 3.8 and when we shut the car off and get out and use the hand held remote to lock the car the alarm/horn will go off all hours of the day or night randomly.

If we shut the car off shut the doors and lock them both from the outside using the key when we return and use the key to unlock the car the alarm is enabled again.

Is there a way to not enable or use the alarm on this model Camaro and still lock the doors, I absolutely don't know the first thing about these GM alarm systems, it is not my specialty?

An owners manual does come in handy at times like this.
Changing those features starts in section 2-18: 2000 Camaro Owners Manual

Thanks, I was in the garage and finally found the manual underneath the passengers seat. It looks to me like you can disarm the entire system putting everything into mode 1.

It would stand to reason that it does have a problem because the alarm is activated with horn blowing randomly all hours of the day.
