Default redline

Just got my camaro the oter day and I have an aftermarket tach installed because the stock one doesnt work. Just wondering what the redline should be set at, its set at about 5200 but in drive it has gone to about 6 before it changes gears.

Well if you look over the years on some the max HP was around 4800rpm. As you go over the max your HP will drop. But going into 6k is going into too much for a stock small block. Its like when people drive with a slipping tranny and all of a sudden the rods are sticking out of the oil pan.

I have no idea what the guy who owned the car before me did to the engine. All I know is its a 350 and only has about 10k miles on it.

ya, just a "mild" cam, a little head work, some beefing of the bottom end. hey, can't argue with beating most Civics in redline though
