Default Single/dual exhaust

It is my understanding that the camaro with the 305 engine came with either single or dual exhaust. And having dual exhaust increased power from 205hp to 230hp. If i were to pick up one without the G92 (dual exhaust) option. How would i go about gaining that 25hp back?

There were dual cats going into a single pipe into a dual outlet muffler.

Mine now has no cats, 2 3/4" pipe, one silver bullet up by the passenger's side wheel, back to a Y pipe to the exit.. Basically straight pipes, but the cheap, cheat/stock way =) Very little modifications

The reason for that 25 hp difference in the 305 cars isnt the exhaust. From what I remember it was the cam shaft used in each engine. If the car was a stick, i believe it had the same camshaft as the 350, explaining the extra horsepower. So if you upgrade your exhaust, that will help im sure, but it wont get you that power youre missing

from what i know, all v8's had dual outlets. and the tpi's (only 305 with more than 200 hp) was rated at 230 for the 85 model when it had the corvette cam. then it got a crappier cam and was knocked down to 205 from there on. all 305's should have a single cat, and dual cats are not the reason for the 25 hp increase.

i had a 84 that had the factory dual exhaust , it becomes dual pipes after the cat and goes to two VERY small pipes into a really sorry T in the back and two mufflers. the system looked there was no way it could flow. i cut that crap off and put on a 4" Mufflex system and loved it.
