the only thing left is the exciter wire to the alternator. it has to get power from the ignition switch to tell it to start working. its been so long i cant remember much on the two wire alt. im assuming the alternator has a internal voltage regulator. check in the fuse box under the hood if u have one and see if theres an igition relay. if its the same as one of the others change them and see what that does.

r u talkin about the plug that goes onto the alt with a thick red 1 and a skinny 1? the red 1 is conneted to the starter, and i cut the skinny 1. i dont have nemore relays. i took them out. except for the 1 for a/c.

mr craby u r the man i thought that little wire was for the gauge so i cut that little wire off. so i put that little wire on the post and it worked. now does that little wire have to be on a switched 12v or can it just stay constantly on?

it should be hooked to the ignition switch. the old igntions had alt on the switch so u would know which post the wire went to. it will run your battery down and harm the alt if u leave it hooked up.
