Default Good idea or Bad idea?

Just got my magnaflow exhaust put on, and I just wanted to know if its a good idea or bad idea to unbolt the cats and punch all the stuffing out from them, and bolt them back in. Will it mess with my computer? ( I figure it wont since it should have the sensor still on it, since I am going to just bolt them right back in. ) Thanks for the input-

It will set off a trouble code and put the car into closed loop (AKA limp mode). If you want to eliminate the cats but O2 simulators or have the car tuned.

when i bought my 98 ss the cats were already gone nothing but straight pipes in there place. it did have the service engine soon light on, but no limp home mode. i drove it for a year with out them and it didnt hurt anything. but i eventually put simulaters on b/c i got tired of seeing that damn light on.

I was in the same boat as you, I just put cats on though. Here in Sacramento, cops are ****'s about doing visual inspections if you get pulled and they think you have modded your car at all.

It's not worth the impound
