I guess I was the lucky one then. My car had minimal rust on the underside, and came apart pretty easily.

Do you have to lift the car up as far as you did? I'm restricted to doing it in my yard and I cant get it lifted that high, but I was able to get the spring out.

I first lifted the back as high as was needed for the rearend to drop to pull the spring out. I went higher up than that to give more working room, and most of the height was needed for the tank to clear the ground as it drops down and out at an angle.

When your taking the fuel pump out which tab on the lock ring do you have to tap to unlock it? is it (in the picture) the tab on the right or the other tabs? The only reason I'm using your photo is because this is the exact same thing as my Camaro.

Answered your PM. There are 3 tabs, in the picture it's one on the left, upper right, and lower right (can't see that one in the pic)

this is quite possibly THE hardest repair to do on one of our cars, and no there isnt any effective short cuts you can take.just say a prayer to your dieity of choice ,go slowly, and you can do it in a day by yourself. and because it was so hard to do i also replaced the tank sending unit while i had the thing apart.as i dont EVER want to do that again!!!!
