i just bought a 2001 z28 on saturday and put a brand new pcm in becuase the car was not starting for the guy i bought it from on friday. when i checked with my diagnostic tool to pull the code the tool would say VIN # not found... after putting in the new pcm, the car ran until this morning when it did the same thing. what could cause the same error in 2 pcm's? wiring?

 

alright so, here is another question

car doesnt have cats, i havent gotten around to being able to tune and run her and what not since its parked at a friends place (cant bring her on base)

so i'm thinking the car keeps dropping the tune because i havent told the computer to go ahead and drop that code.

any1 think that will stop the computer from confusing itself and maintain the tune and what not?
because once i put in the tune the car runs great until it decideds something is wrong, then she rejects the tune and runs ****ty

 

Most likely your problem is not the PCM. If the PCM is giving a trouble code, you should take care of that problem first.

 

well im going to try and mess with it a bit more it doesnt throw any codes besides the o2 sensor so i got to tell it that it doesnt have the sensors in it. if not then ill try to see if the guys at my bases' auto hobby shop can see whats up

 

The car will not run without the upstream O2 sensors, the only ones that can be deleted aro the downstream sensors (the ones after the cats)

ill make sure and keep that in mind when i get around to messing with it
