Default Thinking of dropping a LS1 in my 95z

Stock lt1 engine is at 167,XX. still running strong, but little by little its falling apart as should. I was thinking about just rebuilding the top end, but at 167 thousand miles, the whole engine needs rebuilding. So i figured why not just drop a ls1? I've herd i can keep the tranny to my 95z, all i really need to get is the block and computer.

Is this correct? Any problems id run into that would be a hell of a hastle than just rebuilding the engine?

I've actually heard there's more work to it than that. Maybe engine mount problems along with it bolting up to your tranny.

I could be completely wrong though.

you need a kmember set up for the ls1 and your trans wont bolt right up i believe the input shaft is different. you'll need the ls1 computer and wiring harness. by the time you finish it might be better to buy an ls1 fbody.

do a search...you'll find a lot of answers.

you would need a whole ls1 LONGblock meaning heads, intake, everything. you will also need an ls1 kmember and various other things. and no, the tranny in your car now will NOT bolt up to the ls1.

basically you will want an ls1 donor car to be stealing parts off it and putting on your 95.

less hassle than having a freshly built motor for around the same cost as the swap?

maybe i'm just biased towards the lt1...but theres a reason i'm NOT going to an ls1

go for it

when you get the LT1 pulled out, lemme know because at a reasonable price, i'll buy your tired, old, decrepit LT1. It's better than getting $50 from the junk yard.
