IROC-Z could have either the LB9 305 or the L98 350, and unless someone totally screwed the last paint job, will have "IROC-Z" on the doors, as well as the dash badging.

Base Z28s had either the fuel-injected LB9 V8 or the carburated LG4 V8

There were no RS Camaros in 1987, and the LT would either have a V6 or an LG4.

You might want to check out this link:

Good luck getting it fixed up, unfortunately I can't offer any help beyond possibly identifying it, sorry.

Well we're looking at a base Camaro in any case. Looks like it's a decent work in progress, will be interested to see how it develops~

yes. its a base model camaro, with 305 TBI. try taking off your air cleaner and if it runs, spray the little air sensors in the throttle body with choke cleaner. they might just be a little dirty. check your timing with a timing light, check for any vaccum leaks, and also check the fuel pump, fuel filter and relays. thats all i can think of right now. and if your putting in a new engine soon, my advise is dont go for a BB. people have done it but there are a lot of stuff that needs to be modified and or changed. just get a nicely built 350 and put a good cam and a nice set a heads on it and you'll have plenty of power.
