Yes I am going to get some type of tank sealer then paint the whole thing with epoxy primer and maybe body color later. The only part I was bummed about was the dent from the day I got my 78'. I had forgot it was there, just the size of a half dollar. I knew when I saw it what it was from though. I got my car on a COLD winter night. There was about 2' of snow on the ground and I had to get it pulled out backwards. My buddy wrecked the motor in his truck doing it. There was a cinder block somewhere under the snow and I got pulled over it. There was a dent in the rocker i left when I painted it and the dent in the tank where I came off it. Right when I saw I thought. Aww I'll save this and tell my kids about it when there older. Then I blew a hole in the tank a ruined that idea.

I'm making a set of Nascar (round bar with heim ends) style linkage rods for my t10 at work. I'll post up pics when I get the parts but would you be interested in something like that?

Yeah, I'd like to see the pics of the NASCAR rods. I've got the HD rods on my ST10, so I wont be changing out, but still like to see what you do. My rods are 1/2" diameter, so it would be easy to cut the ends off and thread them for 1/2 NF heim ends, rather than replace them totally.

You must have stock rods. If I remember they are way thicker than the Hurst rods. The Hurst rods are only 5/16".

From what I've gathered, there were two different stock linkages. The std. with 3/8" rods and the HD with 1/2" rods. I think they were even supplied to Chevy by two different suppliers, and they were a complete shifter assembly, not just different rods. I know Hurst was one supplier, just can't remember the other that I have?
I'll have to look at mine to remember the supplier's name stamped on it.
Just came to me!!!! It's a factory ITM shifter with the heavy rods.

ITM had heavier rods but the shifters were not the greatest. I had one before the Hurst. That thing locked up so many times. I remember just sitting on the side of the road stuck in neutral or third. Hated it with a passion. Took every bit of two weeks of that for me to pony up for a Competition Plus.

I've heard that before Damon, but it usually was ITM's that were well worn. I remember friends having factory ITM shifters back when they were new and they shifted wonderful. I actually thought they were better than a Hurst when they are in good condition.

I like the Hurst because it snaps over the the 3-4 side on its own. You have to keep pressure on the the stick from 1-2 but 3-4 is just hammer forward and it jumps the gate to the 3-4 side. I need to feel that again, SOON!

Damon was your Camaro a stick car when you got it or did you convert it? Just curious, at some point I will most likely be looking to tackle a swap to a 5/6 speed. Certainly won't be any time soon considering the work I'm doing to my TH350 but wondered what kind of PITA it is, or isn't? I've seen a lot of posts from people saying it's an easy swap as well as posts saying it's miserable.

Swapping to a stick, and swapping to a 5-6 speed stick are quite different. Swapping to a 4 speed is easy, with all factory parts. Swapping to the T56 takes more changes to just about everything to make it fit and function properly.

With the cvar apart it took an hour to swap pedals and install the Zbar. There is a dimple in the firewall on later cars where to drill for the boot. On earlier cars there is a block off plate. I bought the Zbar as a kit from Tamaraz for less than $120. It had the ball stud, zbar, rods, a boot for the clutch fork and a boot for the firewall. The pedals came out of the junkyard. Funny thing is the hump came from the same car 11 yrs later. Really cool junkyards here.
