Spent the day helping my buddy on his '56 Chevy engine/trans swap. Going from a stock 265/powerglide, to a 350/th350 is not too simple! The old 265 uses front engine mounts and bellhousing tranny mount. New engine needs a side mount conversion kit welded in, and tranny crossmember installed. We've got it all out, and spent the day cleaning, cutting out old mounts, and repainting the whole engine bay.
Then we came back to my house to pull the rear axle out of the Austin. It's going to the shop to get the works. New ring and pinion (something around 3.73 to 4.11) new carrier bearings and either a posi unit, or a locker.

No, I've got a steel hood, so I used stock springs.

Hey Val. Question. What hood do you have again? Here's the tough one for extra credit. Do you remember the shipping weight?

I have the OER hood. I didn't get shipping weight. I bought it through Super Chevrolet here in town. Just a few blocks from my house, and it was in stock so I didn't see shipping.

Ahh I was wondering how much it weighed. I still think I'm gonna get a steel hood though. My car has lost weight in other areas, So a glass hood isn't really needed.

Cleaned my garage enough to get to my car again. Went out there and put some two part epoxy stuff my FIL gave me on the floor panel patches. Also replaced a bit of seam sealer. Hopefully tomorrow I can finish the POR15 up and start on the wiring harness.

I took those springs back to HD today and swapped them for springs that fit inside the Harwood springs. I couldn't get to my car today to see if doubling up the springs will work but I will tomorrow.

I actually accomplished something today. Done with POR15!

Also pulled the front back off. I'll probably finished removing it until I get a motor in the thing.

Tomorrow I'd like to gather up all my interior parts and give them a few coats of Black SEM paint. Then I think I'll work on my dash, I've got a new dash cover, but the dash I have isn't really all that bad, just a small crack in it. I may repair it and save the dash pad for trading or just in case the repair doesn't work out. Seems easy enough to install at any time.
