The treatment, lol. I blasted the paint off, then 150g ( these didn't need it) to get large nicks out. Then 240g oil, this is a step for the pros. We take a 240g belt and intentionally dull it with a piece of a grinding stone. Then while the machine is running we take a rolled up rag soaked in fuel oil or kerosene and get the belt good and wet. Then use a special grease on the belt. We use this to get the 150g out, but at the same time it leaves a finish that comes right off when buffed. Then buff and color using 17" dia wheels and metal compounds that are similar to a jeweler rouge.

I haven't worked on a wheel in a long time. My dads a 40 year vet. I did all the prep work at my shop and then went to dads for the final oil, buff, and color. Its a crappy job, but the results are always worth the work.

Well they look great to me. I'm sure the more you work it, the shinier it gets though.

I'm currently actually cleaning my car with a bucket of warm water, and a rag. It was filthy, and I can't see starting to assemble it like that. I'm just giving it a wipe down, but I'm trying not to miss anything. Inside and out, if I lose it completely, underneath too, but I think I'll save that one for later.

After spending all last week doing the engine/trans swap in my friend's '56 Chevy, I finally got back on the Austin. Cleaned and painted the whole undercarriage today. Tomorrow I'm taking the rearend over to the guy who will rebuild it and install the new gears and posi unit.

I'm going to talk with the differential guy first, but I'm leaning towards the 4.11 gears since the Austin will rarely see more than a few miles on the freeway.
