Picked up my TrickFlow heads from the machine shop and ordered a set 1.6 full roller rockers.

Getting ready for the racing season.

Also, pricing Nitros.

Got the news from the rearend shop that my 2.73 gears were shot and also that my carrier being a 2 series wont accept any lower gears. Of course I was expecting this, so I have been perusing Craigslist for a donor to rob parts from. I found a complete 10 bolt with 3.08 gears asking $100. The guy also had a brand new set of Motive Gear Performance 4.56 gears still in the box for $100. I went and looked at all of it, and bought the rearend and the new gears for $150.
Tomorrow I'll run the donor up to the shop, along with the new gears and the guy can put together my rear axle with the 4.56 gears and the 3 series carrier. Didn't really want to go this low, but my tires are 30" tall, and with the 2.73 gears I am running around 1500 rpm at 60mph now, so I'm guessing I'll be around 2700 rpm with the 4.56 gears, and that shouldn't be too tight for the 327 Chevy. It should launch even better now also, and hopefully I can still keep the ffront end from getting too light!

Vall seriously, I think you could stand it on the bumper with slicks and the 4.56s. Might as well put a transbrake in it and bolt on a set of slicks, then learn how to drive on two wheels.

I have 30" tires and 4:11 I run 3300 RMP at 60. So no. You wont be able to drive on the highway. I cruse the back roads at 55.

I want 4:56, but dont want a top speed of 50mph. Im thinking about a 700r4 and 4:56. But I will wait and see how the 4:11 run with a spool and 28" slicks.

Thanks for the info! I may end up going to a 700 also, if it's too tight at 55. We don't have any freeways that I can go over 55 on (legally) until I go out of town about 15-20 miles and it goes to 70 up north. I'd love 4.11, but the price was right on these, so I decided I'd go with them.

Something to remeber about the 700R4 fellas. First gear is deep (like 3 something) and with 4.56s, first is gonna be worthless. Shifting will happen in like ten feet.
