the drivers side of my front widshelid sticks up and out the previous owner said something about a brocken window clip or something it looks like he already tried to glue it down but failed? i don't know.... how can i fix this? i thought maybe i could simply just put some cocking in there and drill a srew to something any ideas? p.s. i'm new to forums and i'm learing sorry if i did something wrong...
The strip around the perimeter of the windshield is called the reveal molding. It is anchored in place by clips under it. The clips are held on a post the is welded to the metal around the windshield opening. The clips are available at most auto parts stores that have bodywork materials and are not very expensive. It also takes a special tool to make it easy to remove the trim, but it is not expensive either.
you have bigger problems then if the window is leaking since the reveal is purely decorative. If the window is leaking you are going to want to remove it clean out all the old caulking and reinstall it. If you try to patch the leak, water will become trapped between the A-piller and the window which will cause rust to form.
Its not that hard to remove a window. It just takes 2 people, with a few pieces of guitar string and 1" dowels for handles. Poke the string through a point in the caulking, wrap it around the dowel on the inside and outside and make a sawing action dragging the wire around the window. Don't let the wire touch the glass edge or metal edge of the car, which will cause the wire to break. Cut about 2 feet and stop for a few second to let the wire cool.
takes about 30 mins to do.
If you don’t feel comfortable doing this bring it to a glass shop. I am sure it cannot be that expensive to do and it will be done right with the correct caulking(do not use home window caulking for this)

EDIT> Poop, totally misread his original post. Sorry guys!
David56> Could you post a pic or two of the area you're talking about for clarification? I think I know what you're talking about but I don't want to guess and confuse you (or myself) about what you're trying to achieve.

Sorry I cannot view them bc I don’t have an account but if you front windshield is leaking water I would highly recommend you have it professionally reinstalled . Your windshield not only blocks wind and bugs from your face but it is a critical safety component in the event of an accident, preventing objects from hitting the passengers.
It is worth fixing. Look into it and I am sure you will find the expense is justifiable
