i have trim thats faded, i want to remove it and re-finish and paint it. im not sure how to i dont want to cause more damage here are some pictures



that whit line is just some missed wax that ran with the ran the other day, i havent had a chance to clean it up. the part i want t redo is the white line in the middle

 

either its 3M taped on there, bolted on the inside of the door, fender, and rear fender, or clipped from the inside

 

Use a hair dryer to get it hot and pull it off. I'm pretty sure it's just stuck on there with automotive adhesive.

 

It's on with adhesive. Work some dental floss in between the molding and the body while heating it up with something like a hair dryer. Don't get too close with the heat, BTW. I've read of several owners removing their body side molding that way. However, I don't know if it can easily be reused once removed. Hopefully, somebody here has removed and reinstalled their BSMs that can offer more insight.

 

i know ive removed emblems that way and the floss will cut thru the tape and leave some on the car

 

The cars usually look better with the molding off. I've been thinkin of doing it to my trans am, cause they look great without it. I heard fishing line makes taking it off as clean as possible. then hit any residue with that goo off stuff.

 

thats what ive heard too i know it works for the rice crew but often they dont care abt their paint, i wasnt sure if that would workout damaging the paint

I see something on that body I want to peel off.... but it ain't molding.

 

If you want to remove it, be prepared to ruin it, your paint or both. Mine came off easy enough... but on the passenger side there was one spot that didn't want to come off, no matter how much heat or goo gone was used and I pulled a hunk of paint right off.
