i bought the Camaro a few months ago and change the oil after a cold start up i notice smoke coming out the exhaust i dont know if oil changes affect it but after a while of driving it seems that there is alot less smoke or hardly any right now the temp is 60 and the car is stored in garage
It depends on the color of the smoke .It could be water vapor to the rings and or valve guide are worn out because of its age and miles ,And the smell of the smoke will give you some indications as well .I have a 1979 Z-28 and it started to do that as well.
Small block Chevy 's are prone to cold start smoke when the valve guides get worn, very common and not a big deal if it's not really bad.
Typically oil gets past the valve guides when it gets shut down and then on a cold start whatever made it into the cylinder gets burned off.
If it quits smoking as it warms up it's not enough to be a problem as long as you check your oil on a regular basis.
If it's not using much I wouldn't worry about it,maybe next change go a little heavier weight oil.
love your car man whats that chin? under the grill. the smoke is white and it goes away after a while so yeah its should be water vapor i see liquid dropping from the pipe
I agree with all above but ff the engine is not high miles and has been properly maintained it could just be the valve seals. If the car sat then the valve seals could have rotted. Oil will run down the intake valve and burn in the cylinders. As the car warms up the valve guides will tighten up to the point the oil burning is greatly reduced. Valve seals should not be an expensive repair. .
