You probably have an exhaust leak. Also check gaskets on your valve covers and intake. While your doing that I would go ahead and replaces all those gaskets plus the oil pan gasket.

Common problem with SBC engine wore valve seals. Oil leaks down and is burned off on the first start up. Not going to hurt anything unless ou start using a lot of oil.

Sorry, but that's a bit too vague to really start making recomendations, though the valve seals probably ARE worn. What color is the smoke, and how long does it last? Keep in mind that sometimes blue smoke and white smoke (which is actually steam)look similar in the wrong light, or from a distance.

If your not loosing any coolant than it most likely is going to be the valve guide seals. Fixing the exhuast wont do it. Its just giving the smoke another place to exit.

or worn piston rings, again oil flowing somehow to the combustion.

if its black or brown, its excess fuel. if its blue, its oil. if its white, its coolant. if its green, get your eyes checked.

yea i had that problem too. The car sat for about 6 months before i bought it. I ran the car often and it eventually stopped the blue smoke.
