I have a '68 base convertible with manual drum brakes. I'm looking at converting to power brakes. It looks like I can use the existing master cylinder and add a power booster. Is there any reason I can't use the existing master cylinder? I checked the application code for the master cylinder and the manual and power were the same. I'm not planning to do disc brakes yet, just convert to power brakes.

 

Pretty much that's all. You will need a different operating rod between the booster and the brake pedal. Someone sells an adjustable one, but I can't remember who it is?
I did this swap on my '71 Camaro, and it took all of a couple hours.

 

Thanks for the information. Did you have any trouble moving the brake lines out to accommodate the extra distance from the firewall that the booster caused for the master cylinder?
