newbie questions
i am looking at purchasing a 67 camaro. it is a non number matching car. it has a new crate 350 edelbrock enginge and a th-350 transmission. the front sheet metal has been replaced. There is rust in the trunk. The car needs a new interior and paint. It has drum brakes all around. I am a corvete guy that is converting over so i am un- familure with what i should be looking for. Where should i look for rust? what other danger areas can lay hidden. Below are a few pics.
Does it look like it is worth 9 grand?
thanks for the help and advice

You want to look up under around the rear frame rails. Replacing frame rails and getting it right is one of the harder jobs in a restoration. You want to check where the rear leaf springs mount also. At the feet of someone sitting in the back seat is also a comon place. Also check close around the windows Look for any signs of a half *** repair.
Pictures can be deceiving and even pros can miss well hidden body rot but that looks like a nice straight car. 9k seems a little high but if its a solid as looks it may be (last famous words) an easy project to finish. I have seen many cars sell for 6K that would have been tuff to get in that good of condition for 3K
What are your plans for it? The 67 has a cowl tag that list most of the options that car would have had on it. More options the more it could be worth. If the current owner has not pointed it out to you chances are its an original 6I.
Sample: about a year and a half ago I saw a ebay auction for a Cowl tag, vin plate and title for a 67. It was for RS/SS big block car. It sold for $7500. Sounds funny but for someone that has build a near perfect clone that Vin/cowl tag/ title could be worth 30K

Whatever it was it had a column shift powerglide automatic.
You can see the PRNDL on the steering column and the large automatic style brake pedal.
Most that I've seen with a column shift powerglide had a two barrel 327 engine with single exhaust.
I'm sure some I6 cars were autos but I think most had 3 speed stick shifts.

Sounds and looks alot like the 69 I bought. I spent 8K on mine in about that condition. Although when the paint came off it was bondo all around. It looks like your is a winner to me.
