Default Convert Automatic to Manual?

I have a stock 1979 berlinetta, and the tranny has a leak up either in the bell casing or front pump seal. So i was thinking about just just buying a tranny from a junk yard and put that in there, but was thinking that it would be be more fun to have a manual rather than automatic...

Just curiosity, has anyone here done this? what was the basic cost??? do it yourself??? shop?

thanks!

jake

It's a lot of work... installing the extra pedal, making room for the clutch linkage, getting a new crossmember, new driveshaft, yokes, etc. If it's an electronic transmission then you have to get the controller, harnesses, etc.
