If Ford wouldn't have made the Mustang, GM would have never had to make a car to compete with it.

Yup, I do have time. Just don't think I'll be back here. I don't want to. ![Wink](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
And for the record, I love the Corvette and it's timeless history. The Vette is not and was not designed to compete with Mustangs; nor was the Mustang built to compete with it.

This is very true. I agree with spec. We may hate each other but that hate has made two great cars in history. Both the Ford and GM have had there good and bad days. But the swearing needs to stop on both sides. Please keep the forums clean.
Other then that i would have to say all is fair.

Not directly, no. The Mustang was introduced to the public in a college campus in 1964 because it was targeted at young people and was meant to be affordable. The pricier Vette was always aimed at a different social and economic group of people. I'm sure Ford wanted to get in on the sports car market, but not at the same plateau that the Vette was and IS.
The Camaro came out 2-3 years after the Mustang looking like it; priced the same, etc. Not to say GM was the only one. In the late 60's, Dodge/Plymouth introduced a bunch of affordable muscle cars, too. All geared at each other; not the Vette.
