New old project-1946 Austin gasser
Yeah, me too! Think it will, as I just got a call from an engine rebuild shop who also wants it, but wants it delivered. It's only a mile from me, but I told him I wont deliver it unless the first guy doesn't show, so he'd have to come get it if he wants it first.
The engine builder called this morning and said he'd come get the 327 remains, so it's gone! Spent the day plumbing the brake system for my buddy's Nova gasser, so that's done too. We'll be assembling the engine accessories, and doing the throttle cable soon. Almost ready to hit the road on his car soon!
Too much time on my hands, and that leads to bad things! I purchased a new intake setup for the Austin's new 350 motor. I'll use the carb setup and linkage off the old Pro Dominator, and sell the intake at one of the upcoming spring swap meets. Need to get this one polished up before installing it though!
I will be running twin round air filters on the carbs, and my Hilborn scoop will be attached with a bracket to the hood opening to direct cool air into the engine bay. No change in the hood, as my engine sets low enough these wont poke through.
Only mods will be to the cross ram. This is actually what is technically a "log ram" which has separate plenums for each side of the engine. So once it's here I'll be modifying it for the street with a balance tube to equalize the plenum vacuum. Everything I've read tells me they don't respond as well to low end rpm without connecting the two ram logs together, but once they are connected they have great off idle response.
I've been seriously considering changing mine over to a cross ram. Offy makes a near identical intake to the winters vintage Z/28 intake. The nice thing is the carbs dump into an open plenum, not isolated runners like yours. Yeah, "they" say it's not as street friendly, but that's what they say about the tunnel ram too.

The old Z/28 style open plenum is a true cross ram, and not a log ram like the Weiand I am going to use. It will balance vacuum better, but may have a little tuning needed also to work well. I think if the carbs you have are working well on your tunnel ram, they will work great on a cross ram. You've probably already done the same tuning needed to work well on either.
If it will clear, I'll put a 6AN or 8AN tube across the runners behind the intake, where it's less visible. I've seen them done in between the carb bases too, but that looks like it would be tough to machine.
