Thanks again Scooch! I wish I could say it will be running soon, but once it's all mocked up I'll have to rip everything out for finish work, clean up, and engine assembly. Then put it all back together again!
I hope to finish it enough to have it ready to race at the Billetproof Drags in late August, but not sure yet. That's a lot to do by myself in 4.5 months! I need a helper!

I know that feeling. I have spent many hours in the garage working on the Camaro all by myself. but it looks like you are killing it man....and august is a ways away. hang in there.

I read through your 50 mini project and really enjoyed it, so now I am following the Falcon build. Love the pictures and descriptions. Keep up the good work.

I saw a parachute on the back of the mini. What did it do in the 1/4 mile?

I've pretty much always worked alone on cars. Used to it now, but it's fun to have a little help. I had a buddy over the other day when I set the engine, and it helped, but also was nice to bounce ideas off another car guy.

Thanks a lot! The "50 mini" is this forum's only way to title a post, as they had no 1946 Austin listing with their format.
I've never ran the Austin in the 1/4. I ran it last August at the Billetproof Drags at our 1/8 mile track and it ran high 7's at 90-95 mph in the 1/8 mile. Didn't need to even think about pulling the chute at that speed. Not sure if I'll ever rrun the 1/4 mile, as I enjoy 1/8 a lot more.

I didn't think it was a 1950.

I only ran 1/8 mile one day when they said the track was still too wet to run the full quarter after a big rain storm. It was 60' time I need to improve so it didn't really matter, but I bet most guys ran it through almost the whole quarter anyway. I know I did.

Small things done today. The rear axle appeared to be offset to the driver's side, so I took a look and realised I had long bolts just shoved through the shackles. I grabbed the correct length bolts and swapped them out, so it's sitting correctly now.
Measured up for my driveline also, just in case I see one at the swap meet that's the right length. I need a 50" from U joint to U joint.
After that I did some measuring and cutting, and came up with a reworked bellcrank that I think will do the clutch. I need to order a couple 3/8" heim joints to make up from pedal to bellcrank, and then shorten the rod to the clutch fork. I tried to buy bellcrank pivot ball studs for the block and frame, but none of the parts houses in town knew what I was talking about, or could find them. They all had bellhousing pivot *****, but none had the 1/2-13 thread block style for Chevys. Had to put them on my list for ordering after the swap meet.

I ran only 1/4 mile when I was racing my '71 Camaro from 1973-1989. The Camaro was such a nice handling car that 1/4 mile runs just felt like a cruise down the street from stoplights. The Austin is a bit more rough around the edges. It goes straight with the M&H tires, but I'm not sure I want to see what it does around 130mph that I think it would be doing in the 1/4 mile.
