thanks for the add trying to get my 68 Camaro running again I had a pro-comp dist I know it was junk so going back to stock points but I don't remember were the stock wires go.the reason am using point is so I can move the car around got a white one I think it dose to pos on the coil if someone can correct me that would be great

Yes, white wire (ign switch power) does go onto the + post with distributor lead on - post.
Just a warning, you will be gigged for pictures.

 

Check with a volt meter. If the Pro Comp was wired like it should have been, it would have a 12 volt line powering it. The stock points distributor was powered by a resistance wire (9-10 volts), which is what you want to verify. Hook the points coil/distributor to a full 12 volt source, and you'll fry the points.

 

I don't remember the other wires pink or purple are for

Following 69's suggestion, in measuring ign power, points open - battery voltage - no current flow.
Points closed, current flow, then the resistive wire comes into the circuit and power will be less.
Generally, when an aftermarket ign system is added, PO's will cut the wire at the firewall connector, or tie it back and run a new wire from IGN spade of fusebox.
If original cloth-covered wire was tied back, you 're in luck.
If not, a ballast resistor will need to be added between supply wire and coil.


Purple wire is for starter solenoid.
By original design, a yellow wire from solenoid R terminal came up and attached to coil + for ign power during START. Check OE ign wire for ign power during START and if power is ther in START, no need to in hooking up yellow wire.

cam/intake/carb too big so going with a 280h comp cam. dont know witch intake to use
edelbrock performer or torker or rpm victor jr ?????,right now I have a strip dominator I be leave it works at 6500 am thinking the rpm someone chime in on this
