Default New guy and just bought my first camaro

Hey everyone my name is Scott from Seattle and I just bought my first camaro. It's a 94 Z28 with a 6 speed and has 107000 miles on it. The body is in good shape and the interior is in great shape, there are some mechanical issues I need to iron out but thats why I'm here. This is a awesome forum and the members really seem to really enjoy helping each other with camaro issues.

Thanks in advance.

hay welcome. im down here on the coast. few miles south of westport. not to many westcoasters here. post some pics and share. i did the same thing as you figured it would be easier and cheaper to look at the body and interier and not worry to much about the motor and running rear because it will mostly get replaced or built. finally some sun today.

Thanks Craby, actually I live in Puyallup but figured saying Seattle would give people more of a landmark. Tell me about your camaro.

93 z28. have a edelbrock air gap intake with some accel injectors, msd ignition and wires. thats most of what ive done to her so far. this is my second 93z and just picked it up three months ago. just picked up a bran new 4 bolt short block for the lady. figure ill build it the way i want it over the long hall and if the one in the car quits ill have it. the motor in the car has been overheated a few times judging by the baked on oil and hard gaskets ive replaced. its got low compression and im hoping itll last a year or so to let me save bucks to do the build. going to see if i can keep the milage up around 25 and get 350 to 400 hp. i think ill be lucky to get 22 23 but gotta try. looking to pick up a good trany set up from performabuit and head and cam from elliotts port works or tpsi. ive owned alot of different cars in my life and the 4th gen camaro has been the nicest and best to date. lets see ive had 63 impala convertible ss, 2 64 impalas 59 impala 67 pontiac gto, 69 chevelle ss, wish i could get just one back oh ya and 66, & 71 mustangs probly the most troublesome , oh and a 56 olds 88 rocket. that thing went much better than i expected. best besides camaro was a toss up with the gto and the chevelle.

When I first brought the 94 home I went to change the air filter(omg) I've never seen a filter that dirty before in my life. After changing the oil and filter, which by the way was due about 5 years ago I change the fuel filter which still had the factory under coating on it. The car sat for 3 years and all tires were flat soppted so I spent 500 for new tires today. Other than that the car acully runs fine, I cleaneed the MAF and TB, the 6 speed shifts like melted butter and the ckutch feels real good. The only issue I have is that I idle at about 1000 rpm, which I don't think is normal but I really know nothing about the lt1 can you help?

Thank you

one thing i noticed is that the car was so so in low rpm range, but when you hit 3500+ the car really came alive.
