why did they drop the oil cooler ?

i was reading on camarosource.ca that in '96 they dropped the oil cooler but didnt say why exactly, was there a reason for performance or something ?

I did not know about this and cant confirm it. What I can tell you is most of the oil coolers I see turn into oil leakers. Maybe thats why?

yes that could be true, just curious to see why they would take something that would help the engine
