is there an engine cooler?
i bought a new radiator on ebay and it has a port on the bottom of the radiator, Opposite side of the trans cooler lines. in my manual it says the engine cooler will attatch to that "if applicable" does my car have one of these with the 5.7 CORVETTE LT1 with the 4l60e transmission? if not can i just run a short hose with a big bolt in the end to block the port for good??????
Look at the oil filter, the cooleris locatedbetween the oil filter and the engine block, and has two coolant lines going to the radiator. Some cars have them and some don't.
If it is a cooler built into the radiator you shouldn't have to block the holes because you have no fluid going in or out and the coolant is sepreate, they use the radiator coolant to reduce the temp of other fluids because oil,and trans fluids run hotter than 160-180* which most raditors are run around.
The factory engine oil cooler does not send oil to the radiator, the radiator sends coolant to the oil cooler instead, so if you don't have a factoryengine oil cooler, then you need to do something to the radiator fittings to keep the coolant from leaking out. Do not confuse the engine oil cooler with the transmission cooler, which actually sends transmission fluid to the radiator. The oil cooler was not used on engines installed in Corvette cars; however, the factory specified Mobil 1 synthetic oil for Corvettes.
