Default Transmission cooler

I'm wondering what your thoughts are on tranny coolers? I have a 95 manual trans. I drive it mostly in the summer and drag race 5 times a year. Should I get a tranny cooler?

Kinda difficult to put a cooler on a manual transmission. For it to work properly it would need a pump, a heat exchanger/radiator, and all associated plumbing. Not really worth the effort as a manual transmission develops much less heat than an automatic, and there are no parts in a manual that are prone to failure due to heat.

Tranny coolers are a automatic thing. The reason you do not have to change your manual transmission fluid is because it never gets hot. Warm yes but if its getting hot it is because something already failed. The heat for a manual is in the clutch. There is no way to cool that. Even 650 hp circle track cars running 7200-7600 RPMs for 30 minutes at a time do not need tranny coolers for manual trans.

Thanks for the input. I was also told I didn't need a cooler for a manual transmission. I was just in NAPA the other day and saw a tranny cooler for a manual transmission. It was the first one I've seen so I was curious. Maybe it's for large trucks or something.
