Trans cooler effect on engine temp
I have a '94 Camaro Z28 with a 4L60E trans. My transmission overheated and needs to be replaced. I am going to take this opportunity to get a converter with a higher stall too. That said, I want to get a trans oil cooler installed to keep the trans from overheating again. Does mounting a trans oil cooler on the radiator cause the engine to run hotter? Second, would the Compressor Works (part 911514) trans cooler at Autozone be a good option?

In this link, a guy mounted a Hayden trans cooler to his radiator and did not see an increase in engine temperature. I wonder if this is the case for everyone.

that cooler looks to be for a v6 setup. check here. the design is better, cools more like a radiator. maybe autozone can order them. its #9der about 2/3 way down the page. cooler should not have an effect on the motors temp. if anything it may drop it a bit because the trans fluid coming it is a bit cooler.

Craby, thanks for the feedback. Just curious - how did you know that the trans cooler from Compressor Works was for a V6? According to the AutoZone website, it fits a '94 Camaro Z28.
