Ok, so i've kinda changed my mind. Ive decided just to get some elbelbrock heads and a cc306. and ive already got all the bolt ons. The 2 questions i have is will i need to change the stock timing chain set? and will i need to get a new torque converter for the cc306? cuz sadly yes i do have an automatic. I plan to swap it in the far future though for the t56 when i have a lot of time on my hands haha.

Do you by any chance know which gears you have in the rear end? Somehwere on this site is the double secret decoder that takes the info from the sticker in your glovebox and identifies your rear gears (assuming they haven't been changed)
Maybe you only have 2.73's and might be surprised if you go to 3.5x or even 4.10's
As for head/cam package, the crabman gave sage advice about contacting Elliot portworks. If you really need to get into the mid to high 11's then yes, you will be rebuilding your tranny and will need a not too street friendly TC and cam.
