Default Noise going over bumps in road, driveways & acceleration

Not sure where to post this one so I posted in 2 groups - sorry

I have a 94 Camaro with ONLY 30,000 miles (yes thirty thousand miles) on it. (v-6) - not a z28.

So its kinda like new but ever since I bought it in 1994, I seem to get a thump noise over bumps in the road, exiting driveways, and hard turns too. It irritates the heck out of me and I just avoid driving it.

It seems like it is coming from the right rear or trunk lid/glass - I have an electric trunk opener (or electric hatch release) if that matters.

No metalic "clanking" noise like a bad driveshaft would make. It almost sounds as if someone is opening and closing my rear hatch-back window. But I am not sure.

I have crawled underneath to look for loose nuts and bolts and I found none in the rear. The rubber bushings looked OK to my untrained eye.

I check the nut on the top of the right rear strut and it seems to be threaded down quite far. (I thought a loose strut might have been the noise) It kinda sounded like it was coming from that area.

I have eliminated the possibility of cargo noise by taking everything out of the cargo-well area in the trunk.

Can ANYONE help me PLEASE ?

I want to drive this car more but the noise is so irritating

Check that the liitle rubber bumpers under the hatch are still there and making contact when the hatch is closed. Try moving the hatch up an own with it locked. it should not move, if it does you need to either get new bumpers or adjust the latch to close the hatch tighter.

i sort of have the same problem just recently i have been hearing a rattling sound...i thought nothing of it until i checked it out and i guess the fiber-glass piece thats rite under the window broke...its like a black fiberglass kinda like weatherstripping but i would assume thats it i was wonder if tightening the hatch tighter would make it go away? if so like gary said how do u tighten it?

Sometimes you can turn the snubbers to make them longer, otherwise get some weatherstrip tape and lace a smll piece where the subber hits, and it will keep the hatch from bouncing.
